Do we truly value every person in our lives?
It's a question that resonates with everyone. Take a moment to reflect.
In our current era, we find ourselves valuing material possessions more than human connections. Money often takes precedence over everything else. While there may be a few individuals who genuinely appreciate the intrinsic worth of others, they are becoming increasingly rare.
It is in human nature to gravitate towards things that bring us joy and admiration. We often have certain conditions or expectations for our relationships:
"If you speak kindly to me, I will reciprocate."
"If you hold a high-ranking position, I will maintain a connection with you."
"If you possess wealth, I will be more inclined to support your actions."
"If you have a strong support system, you will be revered, even if you are in the wrong."
"I stand by your side as long as you are mine."
"I can assist you, but only if you do something for me."
"You helped me, so I feel obliged to return the favor."
In these statements, it is evident that the concept of inherent human value is missing. We all seem to expect something in return for our actions.
However, I wholeheartedly agree that there are a few compassionate individuals who selflessly focus on what they can do for others, without expecting anything in return. These individuals serve as beacons of hope in a world driven by self-interest.
Once upon a time, there was a remarkable woman who held a prestigious position in an unbeatable and highly esteemed organization. Her leadership commanded a strong and obedient workforce, and everything ran smoothly in the professional realm. Despite her success, she found herself spending over 14 hours at work, returning home to an empty house. Her family had already retired for the night, forsaking dinner together and even breakfast. She had a son and a younger daughter, and her husband, an industrialist, showed great affection towards their children and his wife. However, the strong woman had become exceedingly demanding, dismissing her husband over time, claiming he lacked the wealth she desired. Her children, unsurprised by their mother's behavior, knew her well. Her husband, unable to abandon his family, continued living in the same house but in a separate space. He would patiently wait until his children returned from college and work, sharing dinner with them.
On the occasion of their daughter's birthday, the woman hosted a grand party, inviting colleagues and relatives alike. An incident unfolded during the celebration when she demanded an expensive gift from her husband for their daughter. He stared at her, having already gifted their daughter a precious diamond. Infuriated, the woman raised her voice, proclaiming this was precisely why she distanced herself from him. A simple diamond was insufficient for their twenty-year-old daughter. Colleagues observed the scene, their gazes filled with sarcasm, as they had never anticipated such callousness from their esteemed superior. Among the guests were a few relatives who shared the woman's affinity for mingling with the wealthy.
Suddenly, a sweet voice pierced the tense atmosphere, declaring, "My daddy is the most precious gift, and he is here with me." The crowd turned to see the young daughter, leaving everyone astonished. Tears welled up in the father's eyes. It was a profoundly moving moment, serving as a reminder that life isn't solely about material possessions or incessant expectations. True value lies in being generous, genuine, and kind to others, regardless of their social standing. We should refrain from expecting rewards or favors for every action. Take the time to sit down and engage in heartfelt conversations with our loved ones, not out of obligation, but to show genuine care, understanding, and support. Let us prioritize their well-being, spend quality time together, lend a listening ear, offer advice, and create an environment of comfort. In doing so, we embrace the true essence of life and nurture meaningful relationships.
